Rabbi Dr Irving Jacobs

2 August 1938 – 9 December 2020
5 Av 5698 – 23 Kislev 5781

Rabbi Jacobs z”l was the Principal of Jews College in London where he lectured in Bible, Midrash and Liturgy. His appreciation of the artistry of the Sages is reflected in his own remarkable ability to find a striking, colourful turn of phrase which both reveals and delights.

This website contains recordings of some of his key lectures. It has been created by his students in appreciation of the insight, inspiration and pleasure he has given them and in the hope that others may enjoy learning with him.

If you are looking for a place to start, try the lecture “What is Midrash?” which encapsulates many of the key ideas about which Rabbi Jacobs speaks.
